Through the presentation of some ongoing projects, developed by national and foreign historians of different generations and affiliations, this regular series of seminars provides insights into the current trends of research in Early Modern History. It aims to introduce the participants to the current mainstream topics of research, the main problems at stake, the new methodological approaches, the sources being used, and the new interpretations that are being released.
The cycle New Perspectives on Early Modern History started in 2005. Being primarily addressed to the graduate students of the History Department of Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon, and since 2023 also to those of the Autonomous University of Lisbon, the seminars have been always open to other scholars, researchers and everyone interested in the field. The entrance is free.
Seminar sessions are two hours long, starting with a presentation by a guest speaker, followed by a lively debate.
